The Challenge
Select Stone Supply is a highly specialized stone supplier, importing stone from around the world to create their one of a kind bespoke cut pieces and fulfill wholesale orders. To keep up with demand, they needed a multi-purpose facility that could house large-scale industrial stone cutting, processing, storage, and corporate operations — all under one roof.
The Build
Select Stone Supply operates at an elite level — and their facility needed to match. BNK’s goal was to design a space that represented what Select Stone does and how they do it — infusing strength and craftsmanship with functionality into the core design. Using tilt-up concrete panel construction — a highly specialized method where large concrete panels are cast on site, then lifted into place by crane — we engineered a facility as precise and purposeful as the work done inside it.
Tilt-up concrete panel construction wasn’t just the right aesthetic choice — it was the strategic one. 90% of the building’s construction occurs before the structure ever goes up. While waiting for the site plan application to finalize, we capitalized on the foundation permit — working on underground servicing, water, sewer, drainage, and the foundation simultaneously as we engineered, prepped, and staged the concrete panels for lift day.
Tilt-up panel construction leaves no room for error. Every detail, opening, and delivery schedule must be perfectly aligned. Every step of the way, we managed the project — coordinating the minute details of site preparation to ensure a smooth, level surface for concrete casting, engineering panel dimensions and reinforcing to align precisely with the foundation, and mapping every opening before a single pour was made.
The moment the site plan application was ready, so were we. The logistics were coordinated and the contractors were ready to lift the entire building envelope into place — quickly, precisely, and without disruption.
Understanding Select Stone Supply’s daily operational demands, we engineered a sophisticated water recycling system into the facility’s core design — collecting, filtering, and purifying the large volumes of water required for stone cutting operations, achieving a 60% water reuse rate and dramatically reducing the facility’s environmental footprint.
Nothing Stops BNK
When last-minute structural pivots were needed with a steel delivery arriving the next morning, BNK had crews on site at 4am — cutting steel, setting bolts, and applying heat to meet the timeline. No excuses. No delays.
The project also required navigating unique European electrical certification requirements for Select Stone’s German stone-cutting and saw systems — something most Ontario contractors wouldn’t know how to handle, let alone proactively solve. What started as a single build has grown into a five-year partnership. BNK is Select Stone’s first and only choice for every construction need.
Since the original project, we’ve rebuilt one of their original pre-engineered buildings on-site and continue to support ongoing expansion and site plan work to this day
